Winter Tourism

The main reason for visiting Georgia in winter undoubtedly is gorgeous, snowy Caucasus Mountains. Shrouded in enormous snow, it looks fairy.

Gudauri, the largest and highest skiing resort, is located only 135 Kms from Tbilisi. Gudauriis one of the most fascinating winter resorts in Georgia, offering diverse types of sports and entertainment for visitors of any age and preferences. The season opens in early December and lasts till the end of April. Apart from skiing and riding a snowboard, visitors have opportunity of paragliding, night and cat skiing, cross country trails and snow tubing.

Gudauri is well facilitated with high-level infrastructure, offering visitors 5-star hotels and various cafes and restaurants.

Another most prominent resort in winter is Bakuriani. Bakuriani, has been winter Olympics training base starting from Soviet era. The skiing season is from January till the end of March. Bakuriani offers diverse skiing opportunities according to difficulty level. Didveli is the most beautiful tracks in Georgia, with stunning views on the mountains.JoyLand is the greatest place for beginners and children. “25s” – 25-meter ski trampoline nearby, is not steep and very easy for beginners to start skiing with. Outstanding with its freshest air and mineral springs nearby, Bakuriani is also an excellent treatment opportunity.

With stunning landscape and ancient cultural heritage, Svaneti is not only summer resort for mountain lovers. One more pearl for winter tourism assuredly is Mestia, the beautiful town in heart of Svaneti. Apart from breathtaking landscape and high mountains the town is notable for number of medieval monuments, such as churches and towers that are included in a list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
