Georgia is indeed distinguished with its breathtaking nature with its nature reserve, national parks ans protected landscapes where you meet unique species of plans and herbs.

Tbilisi National Park,established in 1973, is one of the nine national parks in Georgia. It is located to the north part of the city Tbilisi, on the slope of Saguramo Range, east of the Aragvi River. On the west the park is bounded by historical town Mtskheta.The area of the park is 243 square kilometres (94 sq mi).The highest point of the park is 1,385 metres (4,544 ft). The area of the park is mainly covered by trees and shrub of oak, hornbeam, and beech. The protected mammals in the park include red deer, lynx, Eurasian brown bear, red fox, and jackal.

Vashlovani protected areas is situated in eastern part of Georgia, and was established in 1935 to preserve its unique shallow forests. Protected areas includeVashlovani Nature Reserve, National Park and 3 Natural Monuments – Eagle Gorge, Takhti-Tepa Mud Volcanoes and Alazani floodplain forest.National park is well-arranged for hiking, biking, geological, cultural and educational tours, bungalows, picnic spots, and camping sites and fire-places. Visitors’center also offers exhibition hall.

Historic region Tusheti, located in the Eastern Caucasus Mountains, is one of the largest protected areas in Europe. Tushetiastonished everyone, who had chance to visit and get familiar with cultural heritage, cuisine, hospitable folks and polyphonic singing, which was enlisted in “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity”. The breathtaking nature, picturesque landscape and centuries-old stone towers at once become unforgettable memory for visitors. It’s important to note, that single road to Tusheti is only passable from late May to mid –October.

Okatse canyon – another wonder of nature is in western region of Georgia, near Kutaisi. Okatse Canyon is on the river Okatse and offers amazing views and fascinating waterfalls. The bridge, from where all these beauty is visible, is 800 meters long and 50 meters above the river. The entrance fee is 7 GEL and Monday is day off to the bridge.

While visiting Region Samegrelo, you probably shouldn’t miss the chance to visit Martvili canyon as well. The canyon is perfect to rent a boat and slide down the river. The best plan is chose overnight trip. You can find accommodation in nearby villages, where you can get familiar with hospitable folks and local cuisine.
